Kris Allen is The American Idol 2009!

After a record setting vote of nearly 100 million, Kris Allen was named the 2009 American Idol. Allen, from Conway, AR, was almost speechless. He appeared to be in shock that he beat out Adam Lambert, widely thought to be the shoe-in.

Allen proved to be the more well-rounded performer, playing the guitar and piano as well as singing. His boyish good looks certainly did not hamper his progress in the competition. Fans also seemed to be attracted to his humble, quiet demeanor. He never talked back to the judges even in the face of sometimes harsh criticism.

Kris, if you read the blogs, and come across this one, embrace your win! You worked hard to earn it and the fans voted for you because you deserve it. It seems as though you were sure Adam was going to win. The fans have lots of love for him, too but it does not detract from your talent and performance abilities. America voted and you are the 2009 American Idol. Enjoy the position and all that comes with it. NO BOUNDARIES!!!

Business Card Buzz: Anybody Know a Good Mechanic?

When looking for a mechanic to fix your car, you look for someone who:

~ is highly proficient
~ has years of experience
~ sets fair rates for parts and services
~ is honest

That can be a tall order these days. You're not likely to find that kind of service at the dealership (the high prices prevent that immediately). It's difficult to find an honest repairman regardless of what needs fixing.

It's not impossible, though... if you take your car to Healon's Automotive. For those of you who live in and around Sumter, South Carolina, you can get all of the qualities listed above delivered with a courteous attitude. Mark Healon, the owner, also shows a genuine gratitude that you have entrusted him with your Gertrude, Bessie, or whatever name you've given your car.

Put Healon's to the test. The next time your car breaks down, call the dealership and one or two other local garages and price their parts and services. Then call Healon's and ask them for a price quote. You'll be pleasantly surprised and so will your wallet or purse.

My car failed to crank today. I called two garages. The first wanted to charge me $65.00 for a tow to their facilities (where I may or may not want to have my car fixed). I called Healon's and Mark just happened to answer the phone. I told him that I thought my battery was dead and asked how much I could expect to pay for a tow. In an effort to save me the cost of towing the vehicle, he sent a mechanic to my home with a booster. I followed him back to the garage to have the car checked out. My battery is okay and I'm not out of pocket for an unnecessary tow. I decided to leave Baby Blue anyhow because the dealership told me that she needed her front brakes replaced. I'm getting it done for a cheaper price than the dealership and the other garage, considered to be one of the best, quoted. Those who are really in-the-know know that Healon's is the best for great service and affordable prices.

Need your car fixed? Now you know where to go! Healon's Automotive. Give them a call. Their business card information is provided below.

Free Tuition for Nursing Program *** Closed Permanently

Dear Readers,

When information is passed on to me from others, I usually check it out prior to posting it here. However, in this instance, I did not take the time to do that because the email indicated that this had already been done and it was legitimate. Since this post was done in May originally, it could have been true at that time. Today's date is July 9, 2009 and the information on the Urban Alliance Foundation's website states that the UA is no longer enrolling students for the Health Alliance Program and will not do so ever again. No reason is offered but site visitors are asked not to inquire about the program.

In my estimation, phrases such as "no longer" and "We will not enroll participants ever again" indicate that at some point, the UA was involved with the program and enrollment of participants.

With that said, a simple visit to the website renders the original post below or any other posts on other websites or blogs obsolete.

My thanks to tasha18 for taking me to task on this post! If you are searching for a way to pay for your college costs, keep looking. There are many programs out there to assist students in achieving their goals. Nursing tends to be a field that is always experiencing a shortage, so I would think that finding scholarships, grants, and the like is an obtainable goal. Best of luck in your quest!
