Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys

Urban Books Presents "From My Front Porch"

About the book:

From My Front Porch

After college graduation, Rayanne Wilson leaves her small South Carolina town for New York City to chase her dream of being a wealthy, famous playwright. She meets Ralph Underwood, a wealthy man ten years her senior, falls deeply in love with him and begins living the life of a young, wealthy socialite. When a family crisis takes Rayanne back to South Carolina to care for her mother and nurse her alcoholic brother, she and Ralph are faced with the challenge of a long distance relationship. Under the strain of all of her responsibilities, Rayanne’s relationship with Ralph flounders and she is devastated when she learns he’s been unfaithful. Rayanne discovers love again when she meets Scott Christopher, a wonderful man ten years her junior. Her failed relationship with Ralph takes a new turn when he tries to rekindle their romance. But Rayanne has learned the hard way that love is as love does. Saying no to Ralph and yes to Scott is one of the easiest decisions she’s had to make in a very long time.

Morgan Freeman, Bernie Mac Remain Hospitalized

Actor Morgan Freeman, who has a long and distinguished career as one of Hollywood's leading men, remains hospitalized after a car accident on Sunday night. It is being reported that Freeman thinks he may have fallen asleep at the wheel of his passenger's 1997 Nissan Maxima but he is not certain. A witness told the Mississippi Highway Patrol that he saw the vehicle flip several times before coming to rest upright in a ditch.

Freeman had surgery to his left arm and hand to reconnect nerves and repair damage suffered in the accident which required the use of the jaws of life to remove him and the passenger from the wreckage. He is said to be in "good spirits" and looking forward to a speedy release.

The 71-year-old actor won an Oscar for his performance in the film Million Dollar Baby and stars in The Dark Knight which is currently in theaters. Other films include The Bucket List, Kiss The Girls, The Shawshank Redemption, Seven, Driving Miss Daisy, Gone, Baby, Gone, Amistad, Lean On Me, and Glory.

Also hospitalized is popular comedian and actor Bernie Mac of The Bernie Mac Show and The Kings of Comdey. Mac is undergoing treatment for pneumonia. He also suffers from an obscure condition known as sarcoidosis, which is said to be in remission. Reportedly, the actor has not suffered with symptons since 2005.

Although the condition affects tens of thousands in the U.S., it is still not a well known illness. Categorized as an immune system disorder, sarcoidosis causes difficulty breathing, inflammation in the neck and chest lymph nodes, and the breakout of bumps and ulcers on the skin. African Americans are more prone to this illness than whites with African America being affected twice as much as the men. Currently, no cure for sarcoidosis has been discovered. For additional information on sarcoidosis, please visit these websites... The Mayo Clinic, The American Lung Association. In addition, Judith Graham of the Chicago Tribune has an excellent blog on this and other medical conditions.
