Season 8 of American Idol is nearly over with only three contestants left. Unfortunately, tonight was the end of the road for the only young woman who remained in the competition. In spite of singing circles around Allen and Gokey the night before, Allison Iraheta did not garner enough votes to move on to the top three. As with past Idol contestants who were voted off too soon, this will probably not be the last fans see of Iraheta.
The competition will continue with Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen as the top three finalist. Lambert is the obvious choice to take the top prize, but the final word belongs to the millions of dedicated American Idol fans. As they've shown tonight, they are definitely rallying around Allen and Gokey to keep them going. With that in mind, we all will have to wait and see who will be the last man standing.
Good luck guys!
Oh, I almost forgot. Judge Paula Abdul gave a nice preview of what fans can expect from her new CD.

American Idol -- Adam Lambert Rocks!
The four remaining American Idol contestants, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey, and Kris Allen sang rock songs. Well, Adam and Allison sang rock songs. Kris and Danny gave it their best shot.
Lambert came out first and he must have waxed the floor on his way off stage because all of the other contestants fell short in comparison. Judge Simon Cowell was on point when he said that the rest would not measure up to Adam's performance (I'm paraphrasing). Allison was a very close second even though she was criticized by the judges for her song choice.
Kris Allen and Danny Gokey will probably find themselves biting their nails side by side as they wait anxiously to see which one will have to leave the competition. Gokey has a strong following but Allen may edge him out because the girls love the fact that he plays the guitar. And who could resist that smile? Good looks and the ability to hold your own with world famous rock guitarist Slash should surely trump the horrible note Gokey not only screamed but held at the end of his performance. Were the dogs in your neighborhood in an uproar, too? Yeah! Thought so.
The duets rendered by Allen and Gokey and Iraheta and Lambert should prove to anyone with decent hearing that I've been right all along... the final showdown will be between Iraheta and Lambert -- or at least it should be. He's been accused by Randy Jackson as being over-the-top and too theatrical. I've considered him to be a rocker from jump. Whichever... it doesn't matter. He is the Season 8 American Idol. And young Allison is the only one left in the competition who can give Adam a good run for his money.
By the way, all of you Paula Abdul fans, she will be performing on the results show. I still listen to Cold Hearted Snake, Straight Up and Forever Your Girl. Oh, I guess that means I'm a fan, too, huh? Well, why not!

Adam Lambert Owns American Idol Season 8!
Adam Lambert has had control of the American Idol stage since he let out the first note. Last week, I became convinced that the final two will come down to Lambert and the 16-year old sensation that is Allison Iraheta. Both happen to be from Los Angeles, CA. Lambert has owned season eight from the beginning. Even my son, who never bothers to watch Idol, has been turning up to watch him perform. Initially, he thought that Idol was pulling a fast one by planting a professional performer in the contest. This guy is clearly in a category all by himself. And he's such a pretty boy! I love it.

Obviously, all of the contestants are very talented. Otherwise, they never would have made it this far. I had high hopes for many of them, even some of those who have departed. But, it is what it is. And that would be a contest. Somebody has to be eliminated tomorrow. I am more than a little concerned for Lil Rounds and Kris Allen. Matt Giraud may be teetering on the edge as well. Barring a miracle, I stand by my prediction that the final battle will be fought by Iraheta and Lambert with Lambert winning hands down.
